We were saddened to learn that Federated Vice Chairman John McGonigle passed away over the weekend. McGonigle was a giant of the money market fund industry, and he was one of the foremost experts on money fund regulations in the world. He fought tirelessly to protect money funds from onerous regulations over the past decade. The Obituary says, "John William McGonigle died peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2017, with his wife of 54 years by his side. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, he was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, friend, and professional colleague. He will be dearly missed by many, many people. It was a life well lived. John was the Vice Chairman of Federated Investors, where he had worked for 51 years. John loved Federated and considered his colleagues among his dearest friends. They were an integral part of his life." Our deepest condolences go out to his family and his colleagues at Federated and in the mutual fund business.
