Invesco Tweeted about a paper entitled, "Taming Uncertainty: Stable value's role in modern plan design." It tells us, "Modern plan design has evolved to accommodate the needs of the tidal wave of baby boomers who are preparing for retirement and those opting to remain plan participants after retirement. But recent market volatility and the potential for rising interest rates have spotlighted the growing need for investment choices that offer stability. Capital preservation options have long been a staple for those in or near retirement, and the capital preservation characteristics of stable value continue to help reduce volatility and uncertainty." The piece adds, "With proper oversight and use of investment vehicles, stable value should provide compelling value for most DC plans. Plan sponsors in industries that are subject to frequent or large employer-directed events (layoffs, spinoffs, early retirement programs, etc.) may need to evaluate the stable value liquidity in conjunction with the level of expected plan distributions. These plans may prefer to invest in a pooled stable value vehicle to help manage liquidity needs."
