Paul Cominsky is now at Silicon Valley Bank. He was previously with J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

Alex Bird is now a Vice President of Liquidity Solutions at Goldman Sachs. He was previously with The Liquidity Marketplace and State Street FundConnect.

We were saddened to learn that Federated Vice Chairman John McGonigle passed away. McGonigle was a giant of the money market fund industry, one of the foremost experts on money fund regulations in the world. Our deepest condolences to his family and colleagues at Federated. See the Obituary here.

A press release entitled, "ICI's Sean Collins Promoted to Chief Economist" tells us, "The Investment Company Institute (ICI) announced today that Sean Collins will be promoted to serve as chief economist, effective January 1, 2018 ... following ... retirement of current ICI Chief Economist Brian Reid.... Collins will report to ICI President and CEO Paul Schott Stevens."

A press release says, "The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Dalia Blass has been named Director of the agency's Division of Investment Management."

Wells Fargo Advisors is seeking a "Product Manager 3 for its Cash Sweep and Business and Account Strategy Team who will be responsible for "overall product management and strategic focus for the Cash Sweep Program."

Total Bank Solutions hired Joe Sarbinowski, who was previously with Deutsche Asset Management.

Reich & Tang hired cash industry veterans David Carson, Stephen Brown, and Roger Maude.

A recent article entitled, "Profile: Keeping the peace," which appeared in "The Journal of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment," interviews Paul Schott Stevens, president and CEO of the Investment Company Institute. He "reflects on the many crises faced during his time working in the US financial services industry, and explains why an appropriate framework of regulation will be so important moving forward," says the piece.

Eric Thorderson retired as Portfolio Manager of Janus Government Money Market Fund and Janus Money Market Fund. Garrett Strum takes over as Portfolio Manager of both funds.

Tom Dailey, who managed Calvert money funds until 12/13 when they liquidated, is no longer with the company. He is interested in any money management opportunities.

Lloyd Wennlund retired after 27 years at Northern Trust. Wennlund was Executive Vice President, Head of Mutual Funds for Asset Management. We wish Lloyd well in retirement and thank him for his service!

Joel Friedman joined Public Trust Advisors as a senior member of their Investment Advisory Team. Friedman was previously with Standard & Poor's Global Ratings.

Our Feb. 13 News, entitled, "In Memoriam: Money Fund Guru Bill Donoghue; Popularized MMFs in '​80s," explains, "Crane Data was saddened to learn recently that the original money fund "guru," Bill Donoghue, passed away last month. Donoghue's Obituary explains, "William E. Donoghue, 75, of Seattle, Washington ... was a respected author and investment expert best known for the growth of money market mutual funds."
