William Crist is a new Director and Senior Institutional Sales Representative for BofA Global Capital Management, responsible for financial institutions sales in the U.S. Crist was previously with Capital Advisors Group, Janus Capital Management and Fidelity Investments.

American Beacon Advisors' Sam Silver has been promoted from Senior Portfolio Manager to Vice President Fixed Income Investments. Sam now reports directly to CEO, Gene Needles, and has primary responsibility for the oversight and supervision of ABA's stable NAV portfolio assets and 2a-7 Funds.

Montgomery County, Maryland is seeking an Investment Portfolio Manager. The description says, "Employee is responsible for the overall management of certain components of the County's debt, cash management, and fiscal projects activities, specifically the administration and management of cash and investments, banking relationships and services, and the County's Commercial Paper program." Brian Ingram has joined Morgan Stanley Investment Management as an Executive Director. Ingram was previously with Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

Graeme Henderson has joined online money market fund portal technology provider Cachematrix as Vice President of Sales. Henderson, who previously worked at Bank of America's Money Markets Express portal and on BBH's money fund platform, will report to Pete Young.

Rick Holland is a new Managing Director at Charles Schwab Investment Management, with responsibility for all of the non investment related activities of the Charles Schwab Money Market Fund products. Previously, Rick was Vice President/Regional Director and Corporate Treasury Strategist at State Street Global Advisors.

Bill Hoppe, who retired from Invesco in March, has joined Arrowhead Financial Consultants as a Managing Director.

A release entitled, "Rena Walsh Joins FFTW as Head of Money" tells us, "Fischer Francis Trees & Watts (FFTW), the global fixed income partner of BNP Paribas Investment Partners, has hired Rena Walsh [formerly of SSgA] as Head of Money Markets. This new hire demonstrates FFTW's commitment to the liquidity business."

We recently noticed a job description that says, "BofA Global Capital Management, the cash investment management division of Bank of America, offers liquidity investment solutions to retail, institutional and high net worth clients. As a Marketing Product Manager, you will be responsible for directing, developing and managing product/delivery/research/channel strategies for a suite of cash products." BNY Mellon Capital Markets hired Daniel Hill and Joseph Russo on its short-term fixed income desk, "part of BNY Mellon Capital Markets' expansion of its commercial paper activities" says a press release.

Pensions & Investments reports that Boyce Greer, head of institutional investments and former Money Market Group chief for Fidelity Investments, died suddenly while kayaking in Idaho. Our deepest condolences to his family and to Fidelity.

Sunday's New York Times Obituary section says, "Howard Stein, a former chief of the Dreyfus Corporation who as one of the fathers of the mutual fund industry introduced innovations like the first money market fund with no initial fee, died on Tuesday at his home in Southampton, N.Y. He was 84."

Fidelity's Pyramis Global Advisors recently hired Peter Knight to oversee international business development in money markets within its global institutional cash services business out of London. Knight, a former Chair of IMMFA, was previously with HSBC, JPMorgan, and Fidelity.

SSgA recently hired Adam Sadiq and Kevin Thompson as Regional Sales Directors for its Global Cash Business in Europe and also hired Codie Sanchez as a Regional Sales Representative based in Dallas. Sadiq was formerly with Western Asset, Thompson had prior stints with Fidelity and Standard Life, and Sanchez was previously with Goldman Sachs.

Money fund industry veteran Terry McBride passed away recently. He was most recently Treasurer of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and previously lived in the Chicago area and worked for Scudder Kemper. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Terry's family, friends, and current and former co-workers.

A press release sent out Friday says, "The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Robert E. Plaze has been named Deputy Director in the Division of Investment Management and Diane C. Blizzard has been named Managing Executive of the Division. As Deputy Director, Mr. Plaze will play an integral role in the Division's regulatory program under the Investment Company and Investment Advisers Acts of 1940.... Mr. Plaze has been a member of the Division staff for more than 27 years. He has served in a number of positions, most recently as Associate Director for Regulatory Policy. Mr. Plaze has led numerous regulatory policy and rulemaking initiatives, and has engaged extensively with other financial regulators on behalf of the Commission on important and timely projects related to investment advisers and investment companies." Adam Dean is departing as President of Silicon Valley Bank's SVB Asset Management. Dean said recently in a note to associates, "After nearly 10 years at SVB building SVB Asset Management, the has come for me to move on. I wanted to briefly thank each of you, clients, friends, and business partners."

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is looking for an expert on mutual funds, with a particular focus on money market funds. The individual will be responsible for monitoring trends and emerging risks, contributing to policy discussions, and assisting with or consulting on related bank supervision efforts. Mike Markowitz, Colleen McDermott and Kris Dorr have reunited at Guggenheim Partners to build a Cash and Short Duration Fixed Income Group. Markowitz, based in Chicago, is Managing Director and Head of Short Duration Fixed Income. Dorr, a Director, reports to Mike and will be the portfolio manager for actively managed ETFs, separate accounts and funds. McDermott, Managing Director in Business Development, is the Product Specialist for the Group. The three spent several years together at Mitchell Hutchins Asset Management (subsequently called UBS) managing money for Institutional, Central Bank, Sovereign and Retail investors.

U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Mary Schapiro asked for more hiring to oversee money funds (among other things) today in Testimony before the U.S. Senate's Appropriation Committee, "The request would also permit ... 15 additional staff to the Division of Investment Management primarily to enhance oversight of money market funds and specialized products.

Gene Gohlke, Associate Director for Examinations in the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations at the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, is "retiring from public service at the end of April after more than 35 years at the SEC, according to a press release.

Money fund industry veteran Bill Hoppe has retired from Invesco.

Frank Bonanno has joined Reich & Tang from DoubleRock. R&T recently purchased the assets DoubleRock's (formerly Reserve's) Liquid Insured Deposits, Demand Deposit Marketplace and On-Balance Sheet Sweep products.

Torben Nielsen is the new global head of cash products at Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management, according to websites TradingMarkets.com and EMII. Nielsen will be based in London and will report to Kevin Lecocq.

Eileen Rominger has been named Director of Investment Management at the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission. Rominger will replace Andrew J. "Buddy" Donohue.

Pamela Wisehaupt Tynan is replacing Kathryn Allen as portfolio manager of Vanguard's CA, NJ, NY, OH, and PA Tax-Exempt Money Market Funds, according to a recent SEC filing.

Eileen Mack, formerly with Janus, is a new Vice President with Vanderbilt Avenue Asset Management.
