UmbrellaBank Backs Away From 5.5 Percent APY MM Account Promotion Says Bank Deals Blog. The internet arm of Alabama-based New South Federal Savings Bank is offering a 5.5% APY (5.35% rate, $1,000 minimum) on its Pot O'Gold Money Market account through July 31, 2007. Previously, the market-leading 5.5% offer was pledged through Dec. 31, 2007, says Bank Deals. Bank savers await a new No. 1 as HSBC Direct's temporary 6.0% on savings rate drops after April 30.
